Light and Dark

This is a final project I created for my Intro to Digital Video course at Hamline University. I am especially excited about this project because it also doubled as my final for my advanced Midi production and synthesis course. I was prompted to score video with any of the samples we've created in class, or I had the option to create my own synthesizer. The music in this project directs the visuals. When it's a major chord, the day and light is shown. On the other hand, when a minor chord is played, dark, off-setting images are displayed.

The purpose of this project was to capture the relationship between light and dark through sound and then visuals. I want it to be vague. I want the viewer to look from shot to shot and hear what they are feeling from the content of each visual element. As I was working on this project, I came to find that electronic sounds work better because it forces the viewer to realize that disconnect from the peaceful sounds of nature which should be heard to the harshly out-of-place electronic sound effects.
